The vineyards selected to make this wine stretch from slopes to valleys in mountainous areas with altitudes of 700-900 metres above sea-level. The climatic characteristics give rise to singular grapes with their very own marked personality. In order to make 3000 AÑOS, the work starts in the vineyard selecting only those grapes that satisfy the high-quality standards set by the bodega: yield/ha., total acidity, pH, sanitary conditions, and potential and extractable phenolic compounds. The objective is to produce a concentrated, structured wine that will age in oak and express the full potential of the vines.
The varieties used in the coupage are 50% Monastrell from 60-year old goblet-pruned vines, and 50% Syrah from espalier-trained vines grown in the most mountainous region. The grapes are harvested manually in 18 kg crates and stored in cold storage at 4ºC for 2 days. Once in the bodega, a second selection is carried out by expert staff before the 5-day cold maceration process aimed at gently extracting the grapes’ classic characteristics.
Intense maroon, cherry red in colour, with a purple rim. A concentrated, vibrant wine, rich, and with good depth that heralds excellent structure. Intense aromas on the nose denoting the full expression of the fruit. An excellent compendium of aromas that benefit from time in the glass, very ripe black berries, fine, delicate spices, subtle roasted and smoky notes, and elegant resinous and earthy tones. Excellent first impressions in the mouth with silky sensations, and an attractive, refined texture. Potent and brawny yet delicate, meaty, and wrapped in smooth, polished, balanced tannins. Rounded in the mouth. The weight of the fruit takes retronasal precedence over the lightly toasted undertones. Good length, and a long, elegant, complex finish.
