The grapes for this wine come from Finca Cabezorroyo, a 4.5-hectare vineyard located on the slopes of Monte Yerga at 600 metres above sea-level, near the town of Alfaro. The vines were planted in 1916 with a density of 1.57×1.57 m2. The Garnacha vines were grafted on Rupestris de Lot rootstock in September 1918. The vines are goblet-pruned and tended using eco-friendly viticulture methods in sandy-loam, extremely dry, pebbly soils. The terrain is too challenging to use mechanised methods. The wine is wild red cherry in colour, despite ageing in oak.
Raspberry jam aromas expertly blended with spicey notes – clove, cinnamon, and vanilla. A vivacious, full-bodied wine. The perfect match for cheese and rich food.
