In order to make Las Reñas Selección, the work starts in the vineyard selecting only those grapes that satisfy the high-quality standards set by the bodega: yield/ha., total acidity, pH, sanitary conditions, and potential and extractable phenolic compounds. The objective is to produce a concentrated, structured wine that will age in oak and express the full potential of the vines.
Intense maroon, cherry red in colour, with a purple rim. A concentrated, vibrant wine, with good depth that heralds excellent structure. Intense aromas on the nose, sweet, stewed black berries, with nuances of jam and liqueur together with perfectly integrated good-quality wood. Excellent first impressions in the mouth with silky sensations and attractive, refined texture. Potent and brawny yet delicate, meaty, and wrapped in smooth, polished, balanced tannins. Rounded in the mouth. The weight of the fruit takes retronasal precedence over the lightly toasted undertones. Good length, and a long, elegant, complex finish. After the initial roasted aromas, the wine evolves in the glass which gives rise to more complex aromas – resinous, species, and lactose. Powerful first impressions in the mouth, a brawny wine, well-structured, unctuous, well-rounded, meaty, and balanced. Mature, opulent tannins that perfectly represent elegant, delicate Mediterranean wines. Long, with good staying-power. Spice and roast retronasal aromas prevail towards the smooth, velvety finish
